I HAVE received your despatch No. 208 of the 29th May last, on the subject of the failure of the local authorities at Canton to hand over the native custom houses at Ch'en-ts'un and Fatshan to the Imperial Maritime Customs Administration.

I approve the terms of your note to Prince Ching calling upon his Highness to cause the necessary instructions to be issued to the Hoppo to hand over to the Administration without further delay the native customs stations at those places.
